What to expect during your appointment
- Consultation: We will discuss your brow goals and lifestyle such as do you draw your brows on every day or only for special occasions? Do you like bold brows, or soft, natural brows? We will discuss color and shape and decide what is best for you.
- Pre-Draw: I will measure, or “map” out your brows based on your facial features and preferences to sculpt the perfect brow shape for you.
- Procedure: Once a shape is agreed upon, the procedure will begin. You will be numbed throughout the process to ensure comfortability.
- Reveal: The big reveal! You will get to see your brows all finished, and we will discuss aftercare and the touch up process.
What to expect after your appointment
- Following aftercare instructions is crucial in order to achieve the best results.
- You may experience redness or swelling up to 48 hours after your appointment.
- Keep the area clean and dry.
- Every 30 minutes for 3 hours following your appointment, gently dab the treated area with a wet cotton round and then pat dry to remove any lymph fluid.
- Days 1&2 following your appointment: gently wash the treated area using clean fingertips (no washcloth) with soap and cool or warm water (no hot water) 3 times a day. Any gentle, unscented soap is recommended like Cetaphil, Cerave, Dr. Bronners, etc. Pat dry. Apply half a rice grain amount of the ointment provided at your appointment to each brow with a clean q-tip.
- Day 3+: Resume a regular washing routine (morning & night) and apply ointment as needed (after washing or if brows are dry/itchy).
- You will notice light flaking/scabbing/peeling throughout the healing process and the brows may appear patchy. THIS IS NORMAL! Around 4 weeks, the epidermis will be healed and pigment will appear more clearly on the surface of the skin.
- Any changes in color, shape, thickness, etc. will be addressed at your touch up appointment.
- DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch.
- No makeup, swimming, sun, sunscreen, sauna, excessive sweating, or skincare products for 2 weeks following your appointment.
- Only get your brows wet when you are specifically washing them as described in the aftercare. Do not wash brows in the shower.
FAQ
Does it hurt?
A topical anesthetic is used during your appointment to ensure comfortability. If you are allergic to epinephrine or lidocaine, please let us know.
Do I need a touch up?
All eyebrow and eyeliner procedures include a required a 4-6 week touch up in order to achieve desired results. Additional charges apply if touch up is scheduled after 8 weeks. Permanent makeup is designed to fade after time, touch ups (every 1-5 years, everybody is different!) are recommended to extend your results.
How do you know how to shape them?
Cosmetic Tattoo Artists are trained professionals. We know how to shape the eyebrows according to each client’s individual facial features.
Will you be shaving off my existing eyebrow hair?
No! We work with your existing eyebrow hair to enhance what you already have. In some cases, we will remove excess hair that does not need to be included into the shape, the same as when you pluck or wax your brows.
I’ve had my eyebrows done somewhere else and am unhappy with the results. Can you help me?
Consultations are required to schedule an appointment. We will evaluate your previous permanent makeup and decide whether we can move forward with a correction. In some cases, we can help. In other cases, unfortunately we cannot and removal may be your best option. We do not offer removal services at this time.
